Bad Day

Today is not a good day after all
i screwed up in my common law exam very badly. Then went back to my room, intended to start doing my revision for criminal law, only then i got ticked off by my floormates who were playing ball in the hallway and which keep on banging on my door, and the part which really pissed me off was when i was about to leave to the library; i opened the door, and came out.. woosh, those two freaks ran into their rooms, acting as if nothing happened, then when i was about to reach the main door, I heard one of them saying,

"false alarm, continue playing"

.. and then they continued playing with their stupid ugly balls as I left the building.

oMg!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I am just way too old to get mad and to yell at others, so I decided to keep my rage and anger to myself, and I hope I could just hold on a bit, only for few more days before my exam is over. May God help me in doing so.

"Life is just too short to piss off all the time, it's not worth it"

-Danny Vinyard, American History X-

Anyway, I just found another interesting video

wow.. is this what the chief police called as the "imposition of minimal force" and the police were just acting in their "self defence"..

Seriously, Malaysia needs to rethink of its position in the UN Human Rights Council. If Malaysia thinks it cannot fit in it, I say its maybe the best for Malaysia to step down and bid its farewell to its fellow council members. Those people were just helding a peaceful protest, unarmed, but in the end some of them got beat up by the police force. Haihhh..

And I also happened to stop by this one website

Browse through, go further down, and you'll be able to find this interesting part of all;

" e. Mengundi pembangkang pada tahun 2008.

f. Meminta pembangkang memperjuangkan hak Polis di Parlimen. "

Heh.What is that supposed to mean anyway? I have not read the whole content of it, but I shall do so right after the end of my exam.

And now finally;

"
Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carrying on "

-Daniel Powter, Bad Day-

Yeah, perhaps I am having a bad day. I just can't wait to have the "blue sky holiday". Just wait til I get back to Malaysia.

But for now, life has to go on. 17 more days to go.

weekend updates (2)

I just came back from the library
currently taking a short break in my room.

Anyway, earlier when I was in the prayer room having my lunch, I happened to meet two Muslim guys from the Middle East, one from Iran and the other one from Iraq. The funny thing is that I was trembling while I was eating and chatting with both of them. Erm.. trembling is indeed a too strong word, but generally I was feeling uneasy while I was surrounded by them, so I ate as fast as I could and left that Iraqi guy eating all alone by himself. HeHe.

Haihhh.. I tried so hard not to be prejudice against others, but it proved that it is not that easy to do so. For heaven sake they are my Muslim brothers, but still I have no idea why must i feel uneasy and a bit scared when I was with them. And they certainly did not do anything that ought to make me feel uneasy, but still, just because they are from Iraq and Iran, I simply felt uncomfortable with that. I guess it was my subconscious mind who have already made the not-so-good impression on them and keep on telling me to stereotype all Iraqis and Iranians as the same - they are all extremist. That was why I decided to run away just now.And that is Sooooooo wrong.I guess I have to live in their shoes, only then I would be able to understand their situation better.

Hurrmm.. and now I feel guilty for what happened.
Check out these link and this one

And also this one please

Warghh... Is this what we call as freedom of speech?
Ironically, during its candidature for UN Human Rights Council, Malaysia, in its aide-memoir manifested that it will "promote free media, including in cyberspace, as well as the encouragement of vibrant and active civil societies"

Haihh.. what a contradiction. While previously promising to promote free media and active civil societies, Malaysian police force and the FRU at the same time keep on bashing and beating its citizens while they were rallying peaceful demanding for what they perceive as their rights.

Well, there is not much for me to say, because I guess the situation is already a well known facts, which need not to be spoken or explained anymore.

And btw, Malaysia is indeed a member of the UN Human Rights Council, elected to incumbent the seat until 2009. Well, Let's hope that things will change, or at least improve a bit by then.

Iraqi athletes targeted for wearing shorts
By KIM GAMEL, Associated Press Writer 3 minutes ago
BAGHDAD, Iraq - An Iraqi tennis coach and two of his players were shot to death this week in Baghdad because they were wearing shorts, authorities said Saturday, reporting the latest in a series of recent attacks attributed to Islamic extremists.
A U.S. Marine AH-1 Cobra helicopter, meanwhile, crashed Saturday and its two crew members were missing in Anbar province, a volatile area west of the capital where insurgents are active. Hostile fire was not suspected as the cause of the crash, the U.S. military said.
In the Baghdad incident, gunmen stopped a car carrying the Sunni Arab coach and two Shiite players, asked them to step out and then shot them, said Manham Kubba secretary-general of the Iraqi Tennis Union.
Extremists had distributed leaflets warning people in the mostly Sunni neighborhoods of Saidiyah and Ghazaliyah warning people not to wear shorts, police said.
"Wearing shorts by youth are prohibited because it violates the principals of Islamic religion when showing forbidden parts of the body. Also women should wear the veil," the leaflets said.
No one claimed responsibility for the slayings, which come amid worries that Islamic extremism is spreading in the war-torn country.
Sunni cleric Eid al-Zoubayi denounced the attack.
"Islamic religion is an easy religion and it allows wearing sport shorts as long as they don't show the forbidden parts of the body, so the acts that are targeting the sport are criminal," he said.
It was the second incident involving athletes in just over a week. Fifteen members of a taekwondo team were kidnapped in western Iraq while driving to a training camp in neighboring Jordan on May 17.

Haihhh.. how scary is that.one person could easily be shot to death just because he did not cover the forbidden parts of his body (aurat). I can understand that it is an obligation for a Muslim to abide by the Islamic teachings but can someone tell me if it is ever justified for that person to be killed just because of that. Haihh.. susah betol dgn extremist nih. They are like everywhere by now.

On a different note, while I am writing this stuff, my fellow floormates are playing tennis ball in the hallway and were also talking and laughing out loud like there's no tomorrow and they have been doing this for the past 2 hours ( when I get mad, i tend to exaggerate the facts, but they were there for quite sometime really). I pray to God that they will stop doing whatever they are doing right now A.s.A.p as they are really driving driving me crazy right now. Erkhh.. for goodness sake it's 1am larrr!! I don't care it's saturday nite but I really need to study and I have 4 more papers to go la moron!!

I pray even harder now as I can still hear the tennis ball banging on my door.Aiyaaaa...

"Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover"

When one thinks of Iran, what would be the first picture which appears in our head? Al-Qaeda? Islamic Fundamentalist? Oppressive? Terrorist breeding grounds?

But guess what, you might just be soooo wrong in your view because I have just found one interesting video on Iran, which regarding the transgender operation

Hurm.. This might sound wrong. Transgender?in Iran ISLAMIC republic??? I am not kidding on this. Iran, which is widely known as an Islamic Republic which invokes Islamic Sharia Law, actually does not forbid the sex changes operation in that country, and indeed, the operation is completely legal and is even funded by the Republic. Wow, does it means that Iran is now in transition towards a more moderate Islamic Republic??

Okay, let us not argue on the authenticity of this video, but rather focus on more important point. And neither do I want to argue from the Islamic point of view, as we all know, Islam is being interpreted by sooo many different ways. We have the Shiite, the Sunni, the so called Islam Hadhari with no walk but talk, and the Sisters-not-so-Islam which one more which acts like a talking shop. All of them have their own views on Islam, but what more important is, from this video, try to understand the justification made by the Clergy on why transgender operation is legal from Islamic point of view.

All this while, I have got the idea that Iran is extreme and very orthodox in their interpretation of Islam, but only now I know that Iran is not all bad after all. I am not saying that I encourage and condone the transgender operation [ I chose to be neutral on this] but I am rather surprised to know that an Islamic Republic like Iran could be so "lenient" when dealing with this issue, while others would consider it as a "taboo" to even mentioning in the public.

By the way, if you browse through the same website, you should be able to find the video on Iran nuclear issues, Iran military operations, the view of various Islamic scholars on wife beating and lots more. Hope you would be able to find and enjoy the video.

In short, don't judge a book by its cover. We should learn of how to understand of one's situation, before we could jump into any conclusions.

My exam is on FRIDAY. Seriously, I still don't feel the pressure. I just feel numb at this moment.haihhh

I Just read today's newspaper. Tariff electric naik huh? I thought, when dealing with the hike on the fuel price THREE MONTHS ago, the government promised that it will not increase the electric tariff for at least another 3 years. Did I hear them right? Did the newspaper said 3 months or 3 years?? Maybe I was wrong, but then again, could it ever be justified for the government to increase the electric tariff after the people have already been burden with the fuel price hike. Well, tak aper lah, this would be the first increase in seven years [ as the way the newspaper said it] so just let it be larrr. [ Read this on a sarcastic manner].

Ok, I'd better not start talking on politics. Ciao

the Empire strikes back

Haiihhh.. first of all, forgive me for such a bad title, I just could not find a better title for this entry.

Well, in the previous post, i pasted a link to the video in which one of the Malaysian prominent politicians was behaving inappropriately while delivering his speech.

And well it seems like that was not the only time he was behaving inappropriately while in the public. In this video, the same person was making an "obscene gesture" to the oppositions during a rally (which i am not pretty sure what is was), and which I consider, or any reasonable person would consider as rude and absurd. Ok, he was provoked by the oppositions, but he should realize that he is the man in power, and he should use his brain, not emotions. Sooner or later, the oppositions could well manipulate this to their own advantage.haihh.. YB. where are your manners YB, your manners..so is this what we called as Islam Hadhari?? hehe.. By acting as what he did in the video, the politician is not much different from the commoners, in fact much worse than that, all people in that video at least did not misbehave, except for him.haihh

Ok fine, i am one emotional person too, and can easily lose my nerves when being provoked. And i know that everyone has their own setbacks, right? nobody is perfect. but for God's sake he IS a menteri besar, people are watching him and what the hell was he thinking when he made that kind of gesture. He should not have done that in the first place, just imagine what would happen if this was to be telecast by the local TV?(though i believe this would never happen)

haihhh.. this is why I think we should have a live telecast of the Parliament proceedings, so that the MPs would behave well in the Parliament, would not make sarcastic "monkey remarks", or being racist to one and another , and the public could expect a better quality of Parliamentary debate, and which they do not discuss on such trivial matters such as dress code and stuff, but instead focusing on more important agenda for the nation. Well, at the very end on the day, people would be more than happy knowing that their precious tax money are being put for a good use and do not simply go into the drain.

Anyway I just read this one entry on the Jasin MP alleged corruption case, and I guess everyone should take their sweet time reading it too, just for the sake of knowing what is happening with Malaysian politics nowadays.

I wonder if people even give a damn about this. Well, let us just wait and see. Sarawak state election is coming up this saturday, and this could be the benchmark of Pak Lah's popularity. I am saying this with full confidence that the oppositions shall not be able to topple to current state government, for obvious reason, that they were contending in less that fifty percent of the total seats ( DAP only 12, while PAS only 1). But if they were to gain more than what they did before ( they won only 2 seats during the last election, one DAP and one independent candidate), I hope this would be a wake up call to Pak Lah's administration to take up serious measures before it gets too late. It seems like the blog kingdoms have got more entries on politics nowadays, mostly voicing their dissatisfaction and discontent on the current affairs, the petrol price hike, the widening income gap between the rich and the poor and how things are managed in Malaysia. I wonder how would Pak Lah's react if he knows how discontented people are with his administration. Come on Pak Lah, you can do it!!

NOTE: Seriously, I am in no position of arguing on this, considering my lack of knowledge on Malaysian politics, and because I realise the government sent me here to study, not to learn of how to criticise them. Neither I am one big fan of the opposition parties, because when it comes to politics, i stand on the neutral ground. Whatever I say and might say is just a matter of my own personal view, which largely based on my own readings and interpretations.

Go to Hell?!

Haihh.. another mundane chapter of my life. I have not much to do for today. Only studying, studying and more studying until I feel like vomiting. Heh, that is what I am supposed to be doing anyway, considering the exam is only in the 2 weeks to come.

Nevertheless, I still had the time to surf the net, and found this rather interesting video which I think is worth to share with everyone else, especially for those who have not watch Bulletin Utama for quite some time now. [ note: Adam, you might gonna love this one. Go and have a look]

And ouh, if you click on the user's name, you should be able to find some other videos related to this one.

P.S. Just imagine how mundane and pathetic my life is right now that I choose to spend my very limited leisure time by watching these kind of videos. Aiyaaa...

...shall not procrastinate

Ouh, after a week without any updates, this would be the second entry of the day..

haihh.. i know that the exam is drawing closer, but i just can't help it but to procrastinate. Right after I made my last entry, I watched 2 episodes of Malcolm in the Middle, had dinner [frozen food again..yuckssss!! feel like throwing up!!] and then I watched another movie, Sleepy Hollow. It was a story of a haunted town, which made based on a legend of a small town called Sleepy Hollow [daaa..]. Anyway, unlike United 93, this movie was rather ordinary. Nothing really outstanding, except for Johnny Depp. In saying this, I meant his acting, not the person himself. Haihh. I always like his acting, especially after watching the Pirates of Caribbean. Huh, the movie was really good, even if Orlando Bloom did not exist in the first place.

Haihhh.. here I am, drifting away again!! Well, this entry is supposed to be on my lack of effort to study, but I ended up talking about movie. This is what happen if you do not draft the idea before you come out with the final piece.

Anyway, though exam is coming up very soon, which is less than 2 weeks now, I still have lots that need to be covered, yet feel soooo in the mood to do that. I know for some of us, 2 weeks is quite a long time, but trust me, it is indeed a very short period of time. And judging on my current pace, I am afraid I can never cover all modules before the exams start on May 17th. haihhh.. I shall not procrastinate, I shall not procrastinate.. that is what I have been told myself since the last few weeks, and I even have this one note sticked on my wall telling me not to procrastinate. But it seems like all of these attempts of not allowing me to procrastinate turned out to be vain. I can never stop putting off my hands from this laptop. After watching Sleepy Hollow, I started doing some reading on Criminal Law, and then not more than 10 minutes after that, I started downloading more of Malcolm in the Middle, ran into the kitchen for some milk, and woosh, here I am, back in font of my laptop. Huarghh.. what a distraction!!

I surely have the options to study at the Library, or even at the LG, but I chose not to do so because I need to be sollitude when I want to do my revision. I can never do my work properly with people around me. Another distraction.

haihhh.. too much whining larrr.. I'd better get back to my books now. Luckily it's Criminal, not the English Legal System which I am revising on right now. Otherwise I could hardly do and understand anything as MELS is indeed my least favourite subject..

If one is a fan of Malay Drama movie, one should become familiar with this one scene where a university student would easily be motivated to study when he thinks of his parents' hopes, and the orang-orang kampung's hopes. Maybe I should think of that and figure out if it would do some help in motivating me to study. Haihhh..

shall not procrastinate, shall not procrastinate, shall not procrastinate...

United 93

It's saturday afternoon, and I just finished watching United 93, on my laptop of course. It was really a good movie, and I would not really mind to watch it again at the cinema.
Honestly, after watching this movie, and presuming that the movie gives the true account of what really happened on the sept 11[ coz there were conspiracy theories telling that the White House was actually behind these attacks], I am not at all surprised of the reaction from the West towards the Muslim world. Even I myself can't stop cursing those cruel terrorists through out the entire movie. Shame on them!! Exploiting Islam as to justify their terrorist action, and now we, the living Muslims who would have to bear the consequences. Urghh!!

I am not someone who's emotion can easily be influenced by just watching the movie, but this one was truly exceptional. If one wants to carry out Jihad, it can still be I am saying not only towards the Muslim terrorists, but it should applycarried out through other means, not by committing terrorist acts. Studying itself could count as one, if it is done with a proper intention. Even in Islam, it never teaches its followers to commit misdeed and to have appropriate demeanour. Seriously, I am no expert in this, but I still believe that terrorist acts could never be justified, when it is committed towards the civilian. If indeed it was USA fault in waging war against the Muslim world, it was the USA leader who should be condemned, not its people!! The same goes to the West, just because there are some culprits who misbehave amongst the Muslim, why should all Muslims be generalised as the same? and then we all have to endure Islamophobia?

I happened to have this opportunity of watching this one TV program when I was in Liverpool, it was called 30 days with Morgan Spurlock, where in this one particular show, a white Christian in the USA experienced living as a Muslim, with a Muslim family in Michigan. Through out the program, it was crystal clear that the white Christian first thought that Islam is a religion which condone terrorism, and when he experienced living as a Muslim, growing beard and etc, only then he learnt of how different were the public reactions towards him. Even the people who were interviewed in that program had the same view, where they simply jumped into conclusion that Islam is terrorist, Islam is Ben Laden and blabla. Sigh.

These people really need to stop being ignorance, only then they would learn and know what Islam is all about, and stop stereotyping all Muslims as the same. While at the same time, the Muslims should also stop being fundamentalist, stop being extreme, and learn how to tolerate amongst each other. Only then How I wish it could be simple as that.

Ouh, I really got carried away too far this time, so I'd rather stop before I start blabbering more on this. Anyway, one more thing which I find very intriguing about this movie was that how the people on the ground [the Air command centre, NORAD and etc] reacted to the whole situation. The movie depicted the US administration as having too much bureaucracy that they took such a sweet time before any decision could be reached.

Oklarrr, I shall not bore everyone with my crappy talking. In short, stereotyping is NOT good. a big NO NO. Just because one government in this one country decided to spend more than 200 Million in building a mosque while that huge amount of money could be channeled properly as to eradicate poverty and reduce the income gap amongst its citizen, it does not mean that all people in that country does not know how to spend wisely, aight?

Visiting students???!!!

Exam is coming up very soon, and everyone now seems to be very busy with their revisions. the same goes to me. but now i have more thing to worry about.

i checked my exam timetable this morning, just to make sure on the exam date. to my surprise, i am only registered to sit for one paper, instead of five, for my 1st year qualifying degree. feeling uneasy, i called the academic office to confirm on that, and i was shocked to know that i am registered as a VISITING STUDENT. wow!! visiting student??? how interesting is that. so, which country am i from? france? lithuania? ukraine? damn!!

how inconvenient!!!. while i should only be worrying of my exams, now i have another problem which i have to think of - that i am not registered as a full time student.

i have already checked my student records, which available online, and it clearly says that i am a full time law undergraduate student.shit.

what could have gone wrong then? to make matter worst, now i have to deal with the law department regarding this matter, while the academic office said that they do not want to intervene in this and it is not their fault that they have got the wrong information, as they obtained all information on students from the department. OMG, for heaven sake, i am not looking for someone to blame on this. i just wanna get this thing settled a.s.a.p so that i can study peacefully, without having any worries that i might not actually be able to sit for the exam in the first place.

sigh.

it seems like i am always in the bad luck. previously, my employer at the warwick accomodation unintentionally forgot to register me for tax exemption, resulting me having to pay the basic tax rate, which was at 25 percent!! i took it as an honest mistake, but it is very annoying when it keeps on recurring.

I pray to God that He shall not add more burden on to myself right now. I am already under immense pressure right now, with the exam is just around the corner.

Sigh.

Manchester Malaysian Night 2006

Well, I guess there is not much left for me to say, as Imree has already given the full account of the Manchester Mnite 2006 in his blog. But for the sake of updating my blog, I shall come out with few comments on the event itself. =)

The Dinner. Urmm....... I just cannot find the right word to picture this. Was it mediocre? Urmm, I guess it was slightly above mediocre. I know they have put great effort for this, but it could have been better if there were more volunteers helping out for the dinner, so that the evening could have been carried out without any major delay, especially with the food serving. As one of my friend said, we paid good money for the dinner, hence we were entitled to attain good service in return. =)

The Dances. OMG!!! They were sooo great, particularly the Indian Dance. It was properly choreographed and was very well executed. The same appraisal also goes to other dances as well, as I can see that they have devoted such an enormous effort for this event. Overall, the dances were fascinating, but it could have been better if they could improvise the sumazau dance.=)

The PLay.I opt not to comment on this one, as Imree has already elaborated on this particular part of the performance.

The Dikir Barat. It was hilarious, yet educating.period.

The Post MNite Party. We sure had fun there. Just look at the pictures below.

Overall, the MNIte and being in Manchester itself was great, and I certainly had a good weekend.
Thanks for such a great hospitality, especially to Dodo, Imree, Wani and Jeff. =)

By the way, these are all some of the pictures which I have taken during the performance. And You can click the link above for the video which have taken during the bollywood dance.
