"Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover"

When one thinks of Iran, what would be the first picture which appears in our head? Al-Qaeda? Islamic Fundamentalist? Oppressive? Terrorist breeding grounds?

But guess what, you might just be soooo wrong in your view because I have just found one interesting video on Iran, which regarding the transgender operation

Hurm.. This might sound wrong. Transgender?in Iran ISLAMIC republic??? I am not kidding on this. Iran, which is widely known as an Islamic Republic which invokes Islamic Sharia Law, actually does not forbid the sex changes operation in that country, and indeed, the operation is completely legal and is even funded by the Republic. Wow, does it means that Iran is now in transition towards a more moderate Islamic Republic??

Okay, let us not argue on the authenticity of this video, but rather focus on more important point. And neither do I want to argue from the Islamic point of view, as we all know, Islam is being interpreted by sooo many different ways. We have the Shiite, the Sunni, the so called Islam Hadhari with no walk but talk, and the Sisters-not-so-Islam which one more which acts like a talking shop. All of them have their own views on Islam, but what more important is, from this video, try to understand the justification made by the Clergy on why transgender operation is legal from Islamic point of view.

All this while, I have got the idea that Iran is extreme and very orthodox in their interpretation of Islam, but only now I know that Iran is not all bad after all. I am not saying that I encourage and condone the transgender operation [ I chose to be neutral on this] but I am rather surprised to know that an Islamic Republic like Iran could be so "lenient" when dealing with this issue, while others would consider it as a "taboo" to even mentioning in the public.

By the way, if you browse through the same website, you should be able to find the video on Iran nuclear issues, Iran military operations, the view of various Islamic scholars on wife beating and lots more. Hope you would be able to find and enjoy the video.

In short, don't judge a book by its cover. We should learn of how to understand of one's situation, before we could jump into any conclusions.

My exam is on FRIDAY. Seriously, I still don't feel the pressure. I just feel numb at this moment.haihhh

I Just read today's newspaper. Tariff electric naik huh? I thought, when dealing with the hike on the fuel price THREE MONTHS ago, the government promised that it will not increase the electric tariff for at least another 3 years. Did I hear them right? Did the newspaper said 3 months or 3 years?? Maybe I was wrong, but then again, could it ever be justified for the government to increase the electric tariff after the people have already been burden with the fuel price hike. Well, tak aper lah, this would be the first increase in seven years [ as the way the newspaper said it] so just let it be larrr. [ Read this on a sarcastic manner].

Ok, I'd better not start talking on politics. Ciao

Transgender is wrong. And there is no such thing as 'Islam moderate'. You are either Muslim or you are not. Check the authenticity of the vidoe first OK? And I just cannot believe that you just said, "let us not argue on the authenticity of this video." What?? Authenticity of the video is the most important thing here because the video is changing the fundamentak teachings of Islam.

About electricity tariff, I personally believe it is justified. Why? Just like in the papers, the last time TNB increased tariff was in 1997, so, it is OK for them to increase it now. It is just that the goverment should've plan this (fuel and electricity tariff hike) in the first place and not increase both of them in the same year.

And I just read the interview between Dr. Mahathir and Malaysiakini. Very interesting. Hihi. I will post about it after my exam.

Good luck with you exam love! (ade gaye brit tak? haha)

Malaysiakini interview with Dr. Mahathir.

When asked why he had never played golf in his life, he said, "Four hours hitting a small ball? I don’t know how many years I have, or how many more months I have."

When asked how Malaysians should remember him, he said, "I think they should forget me."

Haha.

Sorry for having to comment for 3 times. About the electricity tariff, it is OK to increase it if the extra revenues go straight to TNB and be used to improve their services. It is NOT OK when the extra money are used to pay to the IPPs in a one-sided contract.

adam
i cannot guarantee that the video is 100% authentic, but it looks so real to me
but even if u don't believe in the video, you can go to yahoo, and search "transgender operation in iran", then u would be able to find some websites on it.

all i'm saying is, there is no point talking about the content of the video if the video is a hoax. if it's authentic then we can actually talk about it.

It is interesting to find that the founder of Al-Fatiha Foundation (Muslims gays, lesbians and transgenders community) is Faisal Alam.

Hmm...coincidence or a glimpse of the future? :P

well
homosexual is a deadly sin in Islam
but according to a fatwa issued by one Islamic cleric in Iran, transgender operation is legal and not a sin.

sigh.it's so confusing larr. The more i think of it, the more confused i get.How come Islam can have so many different interpretations huh?

Imagine this. If a muslim like me can't even truly conceive the sooooo many different interpretation Islam, how could a non Muslim ever do this? Haihhh..

the easiest way, just follow the quran and the sunna, it shall show us the way.

now on the electric tariff
the government claimed that it would not in any way affect the households:

"Bagaimanapun, kenaikan itu tidak membabitkan kira-kira tiga juta isi rumah yang menggunakan tenaga elektrik kurang 200 kilowatt sejam (kwh) atau kadar bil bulanan kurang daripada RM43.60."

source: bharian.

so, we can imply right here that the business and industrial sectors would be predominantly affected by this. so, i guess it won't take genius to figure this out.

cost of electricity increase = cost of overall production increase = the depreciatin of total revenue/profits = to sustain the current level of revenue/profits = business and traders would inevitable have to increase the price for the services/goods. am i right on this? adam, please help me out with this.

am i right?

so, inevitable, it will still indirectly affect the households and the consumers.kan?kan?kan?

actually you are absolutely right. and even without having to come out with your complicated theory, it is obvious that no one uses electricity less than RM44 per month (Unless they don't have refrigerator).

Mirul, you just give me your email (Ni free rider problem nih. haha).

OMG!!! I am sooooooo stressed out!!!!! DAMMIT la!
